filmsToday Android app
Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: 26 August 2026
filmsToday is designed to work without an account. We do not ask for your name or email address, sell personal information, or use your app activity to create advertising profiles.
Information kept on your device
The app stores your chosen language, country, region, channel package, notification preferences, keywords, film reminders and the daily film-listing cache on your device. Keyword matching and scheduled film notifications are processed locally on your phone.
You can remove this information by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app.
Information sent to filmsToday
To download the correct listings, the app sends the country, region, channel package, time zone and listing day you selected to the filmsToday service. The app does not request GPS or precise-location permission. On first use it may suggest settings from the phone’s language, culture and time zone; this happens without reading your precise location.
As with an ordinary secure website request, our server or hosting provider may temporarily process technical information such as your IP address, request date and time, app request details, response status and user agent. This is used to deliver listings, protect the service, diagnose faults and prevent abuse—not to identify you or build an advertising profile.
Notifications and background updates
If you allow notifications, Android lets filmsToday show film reminders and recommendation notices. The app may refresh the daily listings in the background so it can decide on your device whether a selected recommendation or keyword has a match. Notification choices and keyword phrases are not uploaded to filmsToday for server-side profiling.
You can change these choices inside the app, disable notifications in Android settings, or remove the app’s notification permission at any time.
Sharing and external links
When you share a film, the app gives the text and filmsToday link to Android’s share panel. filmsToday does not learn which app or person you choose.
Some film cards contain optional Amazon or eBay affiliate links. Opening one takes you to that provider, whose own privacy policy and data practices apply. filmsToday may receive a commission from an eligible purchase, but does not receive your payment details.
Security and retention
App-to-service requests use HTTPS. Daily listings remain cached on the device for normal app operation. Operational server logs are retained only for as long as reasonably needed for security, reliability and hosting administration.
Children
filmsToday is a general film-listing service and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will show when it was last revised.
